ELIAS BERNSTEIN

Elias is a theatre director, playwright, and visual artist originally from Potomac, Maryland. He is currently earning his BA in Theatre in the directing program at Fordham University. At Fordham, he has developed a love for classical drama, the interesting topography of American culture, and the unique pocket of society that Generation Z inhabits. Elias has directed two full-length musicals with The Free Theatre, a student-run, nonprofit theatre company based in Germantown, MD, and has helped bring to life several new plays through the robust playwriting program at Fordham. In spring 2026, he will direct the world premiere of Chamberlain Bauman’s The Art of Self-Mythologizing as part of Fordham’s studio season. He works between the New York and Washington, D.C. theatre scenes, though he hasn’t yet picked a favorite.
